This is demo that shows how you can turn IGES surfaces into something usable. The idea is you join all the surfaces together and then copy them to a new part file so that you can thicken the model.

Best way to this just change the import mode to "map the 308/408 iges entities onto a product structure" in
Tools-->Options-->Compatibility-->in iges tab.
Noe import/open the igs file & you will get individual parts with product structure.

Thanks for the input. You have a good suggestion. However, this part was not desgined in an assembly and, therefore, will insist on bringing it into a part anyway. I ran the part thru and ended up with the same results you saw in the video.
